September 10, 2025 Ghana Mission Trip Recap

Written by Communications

Earlier this summer, a Campus Outreach (CO) team from ECBC traveled to Accra, a city in Ghana, to serve alongside Redeemer City Church Accra and their local college ministry team. The team was made up of CO leadership and students from Coastal Carolina, College of Charleston, and Charleston Southern who focused on ministering to students at the University of Ghana.

CO Charleston has been traveling to Ghana to connect with Redeemer City Church for several summers in a row with the goal of helping to strengthen the church’s college ministry. CO Charleston Resource Team Member Marion Stallings shared, “The long-term aim is that one day, Accra, Ghana, would become its own Campus Outreach location like Charleston, and these trips help pave the road for that in the form of trainings and side-by-side laboring on campus.”

Another goal of the trip was to help develop a global mindset and heart for international missions among CO Charleston students who participated in the trip. This trip provided them with the opportunity to learn a new culture and labor alongside fellow believers in Accra to share the gospel with non-believers and to look for opportunities to connect believers with a local church and fellow Christians.

Marion was especially encouraged by a discipleship opportunity that came about as a result of their time on campus: “We were meeting with a few students at the dining hall and after some extended conversation, one of the students named Gottfred who was a believer admitted to us that he had been praying for someone to disciple him, as he had never been discipled before. We were glad to hear this and that Owusu (one of the Ghanaian Campus staff) would plan to continue to meet with him.”

Please continue to pray for Redeemer City Church Accra and the students at the University of Ghana. Pray that believing students would continue to meet with Redeemer Community Church members like Owusu, and pray that those who are not yet believers would come to faith. Praise God for the cultural awareness and deeper love for missions that CO Charleston students developed on this trip, and pray that this love would continue to grow.
